Depends what you want to get out of the experience. If you’re caught up in wanting to just party and tailgate at the house with a bunch of freshman and sophomore girls, and have more options of girls to go for maybe. But pledging can be a lot especially for someone who is 21 to get bossed around by people who can’t even legally drink yet. You’ll be pledging with and mainly hanging out with 18 year olds who don’t know what they’re doing and who still drink 4loko and UV blue for a whole semester, the guys your age in your chapter won’t really be interested in hanging with you that often until you’re initiated and most likely won’t hang at the house or even be very involved. The culture at this school for JR/SR Greek guys is typically minimal involvement besides formals, socials and tailgates unless you hold a position. Otherwise everyone hangs out with their group in their pledge class and goes to bars. You can definitely get a bid somewhere, but the more reputable houses can easily fill their spots with freshmen and sophomores so it’s unlikely you’ll get a bid there. Less popular houses won’t do things on a big scale persay, but if you’re looking for brotherhood, involvement you’ll get that, and you’ll party and have formals and socials too but like I said it’s not going to be large scale. It’s a huge time investment and a lot of money, especially for being so deep in a major to go for this so late to only realize it wasn’t for you or that you don’t find it’s worth it unless it’s a top house. So i’d evaluate what you want to get out of anfraternity experience and if you’ll get that from where you have a chance of getting bids. If it all lines up for you, by all means go through rush. Your best bet is typically to get someone you know who’s active in a house to vouch for you to the recruitment chair so you can get invited to rush events. If you’re completely out of the Greek loop, sign up for IFC formal recruitment. It’ll give you a chance to check out every house, and if you’re adamant on going for a reputable house this is your chance of them at least giving you the chance of consideration. And best of all it maximizes your opportunity to get bids so you have options if more than 1 chapter wants you.

I don't know why you would want to rush a fraternity as a freshman or sophomore, much less a junior.
