by: anonMost/all of the schools my friends go to are big ten, and from what ive heard from them the way they rank their fraternities & sororities there is based on looks/grades/location/parties/house etc... everything you'd expect. However at mizzou so much of the discussion around rankings and tiers has to do with how houses perform in GW/Homecoming. Is that just a mizzou thing? How come a big part of a houses reputation rides on greek week & homecoming (or at least thats what it seems like, i could be wrong) ?

Big 10 Greek life sucks! SEC is much better! I would
Suggest you not base anything Greek off big 10! Also yes homecoming at Mizzou is a huge deal. I think it actually started here. And a lot of your fall semester is devoted to homecoming. It is fun though and a great way to interact with other Greeks. Tiers are based on lots of things, and yes involement is one of them.

Are you talking about frats, because soroities don't have parties at their houses... Lol.
And location.. well they are all in greek town.. lol
Tiers at Mizzou and at most places are based on
Looks, grades, involvement, retention rate and popularity. Also past reputation/ legacy plays into it.

i was talking about frats & sororities...... obviously there aren't parties at sororities. Not at mizzou, but at other schools the location (a certain street/part of campus etc) is a factor that plays into tiers for both frats and sororities. I was just curious how come greek week and homecoming is such a big deal at mizzou, because i've never heard of those two things being that big at some other schools.

Is interesting in that they just joined the SEC but their Greek life is so different. Grades, involvement, and GW/Homecoming are more important than looks and money.
