delta gamma
by: AnonymousI was really interested in rushing for Delta Gamma and I have recommendation letters for that sorority. I keep hearing that they are on probation at Mizzou and have had a lot of problems with hazing. Please give me the inside scoop before I rush a sorority I will hate.

100% honest truth. If you are AT ALL a goodie two shoes you won't like DG. If you're willing to put up with a lot of drinking and craziness (more than other houses), you will be fine. I have nothing against DGs, but for the most part their attitude is very much "we do what we want and drink where we want." If you want a well-rounded sorority experience, and by that I mean lots of volunteering opportunities, sorority events, rah rah sisterhood, etc. then DG is probably not for you. They couldn't care less about that kind of stuff. If you're really social and just want to have a good time, you may like them. They had problems with hazing in Fall 2011 (and prior to that, they just never got caught), and they also had a few "minor" issues with it this past Fall.

By minor issues, for example, some DGs were at a frat one night and the older girls were making the younger girls take shots and run up and down the stairs. It was one of the guys in the frat who spoke up about it and turned them in, because that could have been a liability issue for them. And before people accuse me of trying to ruin DG's reputation before Recruitment - facts are facts, and I think these kinds of things are what PNMs should be aware of going into recruitment.

DG got caught hazing a few semesters ago, usually don't do terribly well in competitions, got kicked out of GW for shot-gunning beers outside the rec center and from my experience are more worried about how much money your parents make than they do about who you are as a person.
That said, if you love partying, don't care about being involved and just want to be social DG might be a good pick.

DG's aren't even known as social butterflies as much as they used to be either. I've gone and heard of quite a few top tier fraternity formals that every other sorority was present at, except DG. This just tells me that even the frats are fed up with DG's behavior. The guys want to have fun and they don't want trouble from DG therefore, they don't associate with them anymore and don't invite them.

Most inaccurate post I've ever read. I know this was posted in 2013, but I do not believe this post represents DG at Mizzou very well today. If you're a PNM coming to Mizzou, do not let this post get to you about DG.
