by: PNMWhat do you recommend as good conversation pieces during rush, as well as what not to say? I want actives to know I'm down to earth, modest, and involved. So I want to mainly talk about sisterhood, campus involvement and philanthropy. But I want to also know the other side of the sorority (party to study ratio, drama, and time commitment) without being offensive or informal. Also, do sororities ask for final transcripts after you've accepted a bid? What are formals/pairings with fraternities like?

I understand why PNMs are nervous and are asking questions. I'd say to be yourself. You should just be trying to have normal conversations with the actives. It's better to try to establish a connection with the actives you're talking to. If you can't do that, then it's probably not the place for you. Do your best to showcase your personality, but stay true to yourself. That's how you'll find the house you'll be happiest in. Truth.

Don't ask that question unless you're ready to sit there looking back at a blank stare. When I went through I asked a girl in a top tier house when she knew her house was right for her and she replied with "I'm not sure I've had that moment actually." Awkward.

I'm just saying, even if girls got their top house, most girls decided to be an XYZ after one week of rushing just like the PNMs will, so it's like oh, I chose because i liked their teeth... wtf, just ask about their favorite moment in the house, it will tell you what people like about the sisters they have

Oh, I agree that asking what they loved about their house/when they knew it was the right house for them is very telling. I'm just saying be prepared for some weird and uncomfortable answers. You can tell right away the girls who picked their house for the sisterhood and who picked for other reasons.

I disagree with some of these comments...a girl should know WHY she chose her house. There's a reason why that house stood out more than others. If she can't answer that question, maybe that says something about her and she may have chosen the house for the wrong reasons.

If you want girls to go greek and be in a sorority, how about show that you actually care about them? Don't be rude when they are trying to get advice from girls that are already in a sorority? Yes, I think you should be able to ask a girl why they chose their sorority, and they should be able to answer...or else they shouldn't be there.
