top tier & act/sat
by: TX LegacyOk, so based on other recent grade cut posts, if I have a 3.6 unweighted GPA but a 21 ACT am I still OK for the "brainy" houses like Theta?? What about Chi O, TriDelt & others?? Help-I took hard classes in a challenging school. I just don't test well. SAT was same way. (I have lots of activities & am fairly outgoing)

I came from a private high school, and I took very challenging classes. I took every Honors and AP class that was offered to me. The problem was, my GPA wasn't weighted like public school kids, so my 3.7 looked really bad against an inflated 4.0. When I got a B, I got a 3.0 on my grades. Public school kids get a .5 bump, making their GPA look higher. Well, here's the thing: my GPA is STILL a 3.7, while public school kids are flopping. I hear you, sister. But to answer your question, no one cares if you came from a good high school that didn't weight grades. Grade cuts are made unilaterally, regardless of your high school. Sorry. But with a 3.6, you should be OK, don't worry.

Don't worry about your grades! They're good enough for the first cut. That 21 isn't great, but it got you into Mizzou. If they like you, then that 3.6 should help you, not hurt you. Some houses care a lot about grades, and some houses not as much. All of them care, but the "lower" houses take the girls that "top" houses don't. You will probably get into a top house with your grades, but honestly, if they don't like you, you're toast anyway no matter what your grades are. Enjoy recruitment and be yourself.

Ok thanks for response. But what about the 21 ACT?? Or no one cares about ACT? Just GPA? And if (hopefully) I get through the big (first day) grade cuts, can I quit worrying about my GPA???? Help!!
