by: sorority girlI have lots of volunteer work and am a gorgeous girl. I have wanted to be in a sorority my whole life and I will fit in with those girls. Unfortunately I have a 2.9 what sororities won't cut me for grades ?

You'll be lucky to get any house to be honest. I guarantee there are a thousand other beautiful girls who do volunteer work who have a better GPA than you do. Sorry to say it but GPA is the first thing we cut and that's a pretty low GPA.

Lucky to get any house? I thought each house did it on a point system and grades were points and so were looks and such.. Everyone keeps saying they end up where they are supposed to be! I also have multiple letters for each house. but thanks for making me not want to even rush ^^

You know what, stop being a whiny little witch. I know that this is going to sound harsh and before anyone jumps on me for defending the following houses, I'm not in any of them. Phi Mu has some VERY sweet girls. Yes, it's not the best house, but it's not the worst. They have a genuine sisterhood that you would be LUCKY to share in with your attitude. Sigma has sweet girls as well. The only reason why none of us like SK yet is because they tend to think that they're God's gift to Mizzou and they still have to prove themselves. That being said, they don't have a reputation. I know that there are gorgeous, sweet girls in that house as well. Rec letters also technically might not help you. They won't hurt you either but still. Rec letters don't guarantee that you'll get into a house. Neither does being a legacy. If you go into recruitment convinced that you'll never consider Phi Mu, Sigma, or SK, don't bother rushing. If you're rude at one house, the rest of us can and WILL find out. It doesn't matter how you look and your volunteer work might not count because of your grades. Especially not at tri delt. And I know at this point that you only want to be a tri delt or a g phi because they're the "pretty" houses. They are, but look around other houses. I hope that you want to be judged on more than just your looks because a post like makes me think that we'll all be able to see right through you during recruitment.

Take a seat because Rec's don't mean much at Mizzou. Feel free not to rush because it sounds like your attitude is gonna get you cross cut anyway. We all have friends in every house and if you're rude in a house you think you're "too good" to be in you better believe that all the other houses find out.

Your chances could be slim in some houses. Last year my chapter voted to cut everyone below a 3.00 regardless of personality and involvement. No offense, but If you are struggling with your gpa in high school chances are it will be worse in college. Also, being pretty doesn't give you points, it is more about how you present yourself.

Girl above me- stop being such a downer!!!! Listen, you're going to do fine. Just relax, and focus on your outfits for the week! Keep them cute but conservative enough to meet a boyfriends mom! I really looooooove the houses you're interested in. (May or may not be in one of them......) the grade thing isn't the hugest factor, I promise!! Also yeah, you get a rank on looks. So, the chick above me has a chip on her shoulder it's most likely because she got cut from one of the two houses you want (since they're some of the most popular) honestly, this site if full of bottom tier girls trying to prove they're awesome. In reality, the good houses just don't need to do that. So anyways, don't let this chick bully you! Get excited for recruitment babe!!!

Thank you so much ! I will definitely have all my outfits planned out perfectly. I actually did fine in high school. I messed up my freshman year but by senior year I had a 3.7 or 3.8 all 4 quarters. I really hope the houses look at improvement of grades over all four years!! I hope you are in Gphi or Tridelt because I want nice sisters, and not ones going to tear me down. Thank you !!! ^^^

Last year I went through recruitment with a less than stellar gpa as a result of sickness. I went through recruitment anyway, knowing that my grades would hinder me, and I still got into the house of my dreams, a solid middle tier house with grade cuts. Just be yourself and be open minded, and you'll be fine. So many girls screw themselves from the get go by setting their minds on one house and don't give their all to other houses. Goodluck!

Most houses have a grade cut of at least 3.0. Maybe not lower tier houses like gphi, alpha Phi, or zeta but honestly a gpa lower than 3.0 is a risk factor. There are so many Gorgeous girls that go through rush, so that doesn't hold much value. However if you know girls in a particular house that can vouch for you that can help a lot.

Thanks for the advice ! I am from out of state so I don't know any girls in the house to vouch for me. I did get 16 recommendation letters in all. I really hope those help out and I am a very out going person ! I just want a house where I fit in and the girls are genuinely nice people.
