When will houses contact you if you signed up for informal?

Don't hold your breath. You may never be contacted. Informal is an imperfect system that mainly allows friends already in houses to recruit their friends, whether they are the best candidates or not. It is why the houses that COB and do informal every year are the mediocre houses. I would skip informal and go through formal rush in August when everyone is given an equal chance. Unless of course you don't mind settling....

There are people who seriously still believe that only “mediocre houses” COB? That was the case like 8 years ago.

By your standards all but 2 sororities are “mediocre” (ADPi and SK). Everyone else is COBing.

You’d be better off actively contacting members you know instead of bothering with informal because nobody ever checks the list I think

But yes, to answer your question, there is a slim to none chance you will be contacted. Houses have to announce publicly that they are COBing, but most of them already have girls in mind or go off member recommendations. So you really have to know a member and let her know you’re interested.
