The University apparently things DU can play by the rules and says it can come back. It certainly hasn't stooped to the levels of KA, Kappa Sig, FarmHouse, and SigChi.

DU was far from perfect or ideal in it's previous incarnation on campus. Yet some of the allegations made about it were never determined credible, and rumors and salacious comments/charges were concocted and circulated by other fraternities (Phi Kap and it's allies for example) to get DU in trouble. DU suspension was definitely justified and was a responsible move yet it was its own International's action, not the University's, that led to it being kicked-off campus. The University has really tightened it's criteria for acceptable fraternity behavior and apparently DU International is every bit as strict if not more so. Consequently, DU is once again to be a part of Mizzou's Greek Life and is thought to have earned that right.

Haven't you mistaken DU for Beta Theta Pi and its wealthy alums (including a 2012 millionaire Republican candidate for Governor) who think nothing of using money to get the University to quite often overlook Beta fu#kery?

I am so sorry for your experience. If it's any consolation, I have heard that other women also were taken advantage of at that house. I'm not happy to see DU back either. I can only hope that since their national has cleaned house that the fraternity will now stand for something more positive instead of being content in the gutter.

The assault you allege is unconscionable and abhorrent. I'm so very sorry for your victimization. However, while I do feel awkward commenting to you but do want to say that it's not pertinent to state "a house like DU", "bros who think they don't have to play by the rules", "their house", and "...hope they never come back". Right now, there is no DU at Mizzou, and there has not been for over a year. There are currently no "bros" and no "they" to come back. The men who will be the basis for DU colonization will have been individually selected by the DU International Headquarters and not by current Mizzou students. Men who the powers that be consider capable of living up to the fraternity's core values and principles - and likely to do so - will be the core of the colony. These new DUs should not bear the stigma of the ones suspended from campus and should be given the chance to demonstrate their good intentions. And, we should all be hoping that these new DUs will not be sucked into the Mizzou fraternity " booze and haze business as usual" syndrome.

"the assault I ALLEGE"????? REALLY??? Sounds a lot like business as usual for DU, trying to deny responsibility and culpability. Every member of DU selected in past years was supposed to "live up to the fraternity's core values and principles," too. Every. Single. One. In fact, they took an oath to do just that. So nice try, but there are no guarantees the new fraternity won't be just like the old one.
