rushing for a sorority
by: Mizzou girl
Hi guys
I am going to be an incoming freshman in the fall. I slacked off my freshman year of high school and ended up with a 2.9 GPA. I would consider myself good looking and have a good fashion sense. Also, I love to have a good time. I do have a lot of recommendation letters for each house, but I am sort of worried about the whole GPA from high school causing a problem. What are most of the houses looking for GPA wise?

Most houses are looking for around a 3.2+. But all of them will make exceptions for a PNM who is pretty, has recommendations/is a legacy, and has a great personality. A 2.9 is low, but if you are attractive and likable you shouldn't have a problem. You better REALLY stand out though.

With so many PNM's going through recruitment, most chapters will make the first cut based on grades. Don't be surprised if you only get asked back to a few chapters after the first cut, no matter how pretty/social/connected you are. The question is, will you be willing to be part of a chapter that wants you, or will you think you are too good for those chapters and drop out because you didn't get what you wanted (presumably, a "top" chapter)? Be very open-minded about ALL chapters - you can have a great Greek experience in any chapter at Mizzou.
