recommendation letters

They aren't that important, but they will help, I got asked back to houses without recs there and didn't get asked back to houses I had recs at. Bottom line is if it's between you and a girl with a positive rec you will lose. If its between you and a girl with a negative rec, you will win.

If a house really likes you, they won't cut you just because you don't have one. If they don't like you, they won't keep you just because you DO have one.

Recommendation letters don't do much, besides get you an automatic invite to the second round at some (not all) houses.

National Panhellenic rules state that you are not required to find and send in your own rec letters, and that the sororities can do that for you. It is however helpful to have one from an alum that personally knows you well, and can speak on your behalf. I personally had rec letters for each house because I had so many people offer to write me them, but I didn't freak out about having multiples for each house. Many will take only one and throw out the rests. Just don't stress out to much about it! (:

We don't even look at rec letters unless it comes down to choosing bw 2 girls for invites back. We get binders and binders full of recs, no way is any house going to read through all of them unless they have a reason to. (Well I'm not sure on other houses, like I know DDD will talk about who they want to invite back right up until they have to turn their list in)
