rushing
by: sophomore
Hi guys :)
I am an incoming sophomore at Mizzou, and I am looking forward to rushing this fall. I didnt rush last year, but Im kind of upset I didn't, greek life seems like a fun way to get involved and meet new people.
I have a 3.9 GPA, I am involved on campus, I have leadership roles, and I am not horrible looking. I really want to get into a sorority that values involvement and academics. Realistically, what are my odds of getting in to a good house? Im not necessarily looking for a top tier house, I just want to find a strong house where I'll fit in.
Do you think I'll just wind up with bottom tier houses who desperately need someone with good grades? I almost COBed a house like that and wound up having a bad experience. Not saying that bottom tier houses are bad, but I don't want to have a do-over of this.
Thanks guys :)

Not quite sure what the real question is, but you have a chance anywhere! Just be yourself and have the best conversations you can. Your grades will help and your involvement can help or hurt (depending on if they house wants people that look good on campus or have time to commit to the chapter). Be sure to stress that you do what to be involved in the house if you do, or if you don't stress that.

Keep an open mind, and know going in that there is a chance you won't be quite as desirable because of you sophomore status. It's not personal, it's more financial than anything. Your GPA is definitely an asset, as is your involvement on campus. Work on getting some recs, make sure your attire/appearance is appropriate and polished, and practice with your conversation skills. Be yourself, but put your best foot forward. You will have a chance as a sophomore, but do NOT automatically assume that you are too good for any house.
