financials for houses
by: QueuePlan to do recruitment this August. Can anyone please tell me which houses are on the less expensive side of things? My parents are paying for most of my education but they have said sorority dues/fees are all mine. Also if anyone knows which houses are to avoid due to high cost/money expectations that would be great. Thanks!

This shouldn't be exclusively a financial decision; it has lifelong implications. Know that it costs more to be in a sorority and all cost more than a dorm/apartment. Plus even when you live in an apartment after your year in the house you will still pay dues -- unless you decide to stiff your house, which is a big negative and really frowned upon. If you are watching every penny there are other ways to go through college than being in a sorority.

Hey girl! From my personal experience going through rush last year and what I know- the two most costly houses are delta gamma and kappa kappa gamma (they are both quite a bit higher than other houses) besides them, other houses prices are extremely comparable! Hope this helps :)

Hello And good luck with recruitment! I am in a house on the lower end of the costs- however I have friends that are on the higher end with both the dues and exepectations for money spent for clothes-activities etc. The higher cost houses I believe to be are kappa-DG-and pi phi- hope this helps!

And then, be disappointed when you figure out you can't afford it?
We're in college now ladies, time to start making financially smart decisions.
Unless you come from a wealthy family who will pick up the tab for you, if you are responsible for sorority fees, be aware of what is expected of you, financially speaking, before you get all excited by a house you cannot afford to be a member of.
