If you are indifferent, you know but do not care. If you choose to be indifferent on the many issues that face us today, you stop caring and informing yourself and eventually wind up being uninformed and ignorant. You can go through life not caring and not being passionate about the troubles in our society, but in the end if you don't make an effort to right the wrongs, you are an ignorant fool. Because nothing changes if you are passive.
Does that help?

I suppose, the girl who made it up is a tool #humanitarian wannabe, I just don’t look at indifference as a choice where ignorance is.

Both are a choice. If you choose not to care you choose to be indifferent. What's so hard about that? But by all means, just stay ignorant and indifferent. You will do less harm that way.
