houses in jeopardy

by: My Prerogative

As the low point in the demographic approaching college age declines, it may become impossible to sustain the number of sororities we have at Mizzou because there just won't be as many women going through recruitment. Many sororities rely on pledge classes numbering 60 or more to stay viable, and that likely won't happen going forward. Which houses do you think are most vulnerable? Or, conversely, which do you think are the strongest and will be around for a long time to come?

The strongest houses usually have the strongest alumni support and support from their national. I would say the nicest houses reflect the strongest support. So that would be ChiO, PiPhi, ADPi, DG, Zeta, Kappa and Gamma Phi that aren't in jeopardy because no one is going to let them wither away. I think some of the newer houses and houses that aren't kept up very well could be in trouble.

I think the bigger question is whether we really need so many sororities.

There are some sororities that wouldn't be missed.

I think the houses that are the most vulnerable are those that have to COB each year. That's a sign of poor retention and lack of loyalty.

The cost to live in some of the new houses may be a problem in the future. I have a a lot of friends who after freshman or sophomore years don't want to spend the money on sorority life anymore.
