done bashing the top tier?
by: Ya KnowIf you want to raise up your own house, you might look at what makes some houses the consistent first choice of so many PNMs. It's a combination of things: grades, leadership, activities, mix of in-state and out-of-state, charisma, ease of conversation and so much more. I guess the point is, you have to refuse to compromise your standards. Some houses know that, like ADPi, AXO and KD. That's why they're doing so well. Even Kappa has started to think outside the box. The houses that are foundering are those that always take the same kind of girl or those who will take anyone just to make quota. And that just says desperate.

And yet, year after year, they have the best return rates and are the houses most often preffed #1 by PNMs. How in the world does that happen?

They aren't awful at all so don't be fooled. There is just someone on this website who thinks their house will look better if she says bad things about the top tier. The reality is that top tier houses occupy that position because they are in demand, have high standards and people want to wear their letters.

Return rates are EVERYTHING. They are an indication of what PNMs think of your house and how much they want to join. When more than 90% of the women going through recruitment want to wear your letters, that's pretty impressive. It allows the top houses to be more selective than the bottom tier houses that are just hoping to fill a pledge class. And when girls are clamoring to be part of your sorority, they take extreme pride in where they wind up. So, let me make it clear, high return rates = high retention. High retention = greater financial solvency. Greater financial solvency = a better physical structure. Only a fool says return rates don't matter. If you understood how things work, you wouldn't lose more than half of an entire pledge class before they graduate.

Of course you ^ will. But if you were happy with your own house, what possible difference could it make what others think of any other house? All the criticism in the world won't make your house better or you any happier in it. Perhaps it's time to find something that WILL make you happy, even if it's quitting Greek life if you don't like it.

"Done Bashing the Top Tier?" What the holy f&%k? Why don't we just be done with ALL bashing? I really am so tired of it all and want someone too honestly justify what good bashing does. Our petty jealousies are unbecoming of responsible and well-educated people - yes, women and men both. There is so much to celebrate and be proud of in belonging to a sorority or a fraternity. And it shouldn't matter to you if the one to which I belong is so-called "top tier" or not. And quite truthfully, it definitely does not impact my life whether you are or aren't in a "top tier" house. I'm honestly just very happy that you - and everyone else - choose to be a part of Greek Life and found a Greek home, a house where you can thrive and grow and contribute. Let's identify bashing and rumor-mongering for what they really are - insecurity! Let's be proud of who we are and where we and that we're all a part of Greek Life!
