rush??
by: confusedseeing as how you are all in sororities i figured i would get your opinion. i did not rush in the fall but i want to be in a sorority. Do you think i would have a better chance of being in a sorority if i just like COB with like SK , Sigma, or Phi mu or if i just wait and rush fall 2013 when ill be a sophmore. i just dont know what route to take part of me wants to hold out so i could get into a better house but then im like whats the point if they dont really want sophmores. But i do want to be in a sorority, i guess even if it had to be with sk, sigma or phi mu. ( it just suks cuz i think i could do better) thoughts/opinions. anything would be helpful. Thanks

Thanks! because i feel like im a pretty open minded person, like i dont have to be in a top house i just really dont know if i would want to be in Sigma or Phi mu if like everyone hates them you know. but thanks for the advice and the honesty!

that's such a lie. i know a junior that got into adpi this year, and a sophomore that got into theta. and there are obviously lots more who I don't know.
people say sophomores have less of a chance of getting into houses.... but the only reason it looks that way is because 95% of the girls rushing are freshmen. if a house really likes you, they don't care if you're a sophomore. this year, my house never cut girls just because they were sophomores, and we honestly held them to the exact same standards as the freshmen.

Also consider if you've got the money to Rush or if one of the COB houses costs less because money is a big issue for girls who drop out during rush. I know SK is one of the cheaper houses because they're really new, on the flipside Sigma is hella expensive, especially if you live in house. So maybe ask around to friends or girls you know to get an idea how much you'd be paying per house.

don't ask how much the houses cost during rush! they'll cut you if they think you're asking because you don't know if you can afford it!
Also, just about every house takes 1-2 sophomores. Some houses take more than others. It will be harder to rush but it'll be worth it to see what all the chapters have to offer instead of only seeing 3. Especially if you are concerned with their reputations like you claim. If you're insecure, don't bother joining a struggling house. You will just be upset and bitter as a member. Just look at Sigma, that's all their house is known for now. Bitter girls who point fingers and take it out on everyone else. It's really sad.

Yeah, don't ask during Rush. If you're going to ask, maybe ask some of your friends if they are actives. But know that it is a HUGE money commitment.

so like when you rush they dont tell you how much it costs until you accept the bid?? if you dont ask dont they have to tell you before you accept a bid? but i totally understand why you wouldnt ask. becuase i know what i can afford so i wouldnt join a sorority if i knew that i couldnt afford it.

ok um im not sure if this is serious or not but im sorry if i offended you. like if your in one of those houses im not saying its bad, i mean i wouldnt even know because im not in it. but i just mean the way everyone talks about them makes me feel like i wouldnt fit in there.
