let's be honest
by: OKAYYYYY!
Recruitment takes place during one of the hottest weeks of the year in one of the most hot and humid states in the nation. So here are a few tips to deal with the heat so that you can look your best and not let it drag you down. I read something like this a year or so ago and it really helped this girl from Minnesota (me!) who had never experienced such heat.
1. At least for this week, buy Mitchum Clinical Strength antiperspirant/deodorant. But try it out a couple of weeks before because it could cause a rash.
2. Scented talcum powder can be your friend and help make you feel fresh. Dust it on your body, particularly under your bra and along the elastic of your underwear. But don't go overboard if you are wearing a black dress.
3. If you have massive quantities of long hair, experiment with ways to keep it off your face. My roommate had bandannas that matched her tshirt/shorts outfits and used them each day. Sometimes around her neck and often in her hair. Her big told her later that they called her "Bandanna Girl" in cut sessions and that they thought it was cute and distinctive.
4. Take loose face power and a brush with you and dust it on before each house to keep your face from "shining" too much.
5. A light spray of a refreshing scent can also make you feel fresh. But not too heavy.
Other hints? Let's hear them. We've all been through this so why not share your tips.

#6by: Beat the Sweat
1. Get some coffee filters, cut them in small pieces and bring along in your purse to blot sweat iff your face brfore parties.
2. Besides the "phone fans" there are also tiny little hand held fans at Bed Bath and Beyond
3. Small visor to wear between houses (as long as it doesn't mess with hair)
4. One of those "snap towels" and (a zip lock bag to store it in your purse) to cool down (around your neck) while walking between houses.
#7by: Also note
Sometimes on a hot August day when you enter a house the difference in temperature will be dramatic. It's wonderful to sit in a house that is so cool that you forget what's going on outside. Make note of that. Otherwise you might wind up living in a house where you never get a real reprieve from the heat.
