If you are on academic probation, rushing is the LAST thing you should be doing. You don't need all the distractions and demands on your time that come with sorority life. And I doubt whether any house would take you. Stay focused on your grades and if they improve consider recruitment as a sophomore.

I only took a couple classes and one messed me up. Other class grades were fine.

This was my first semester here. Transfer gpa was 2.8 I think

Go for it, but do your "due diligence" and send in rec letters AND other letters of recommendation from professors/TAs and any other person of authority who can vouch for you and explain your GPA situation - as well as champion you and your successes.

If just one class messed you up, you wouldn't be on acpro. If you had mostly A's in you other classes, one bad grade would be a drop in the bucket. I don't think you're being honest. My guess is that you had a lot of C's, too. I would forget about rushing until you get your sht together academically.
