strongest sororities nationally?
by: ....
What would you guys say are the strongest sororities on a national level?
The weakest?
#22by: my opinion
Top of the top (in no order):
Delta Delta Delta
Chi Omega
Kappa Kappa Gamma
Lower top (in no order):
Pi Beta Phi
Zeta Tau Alpha
Kappa Alpha Theta
Alpha Delta Pi
Delta Gamma
There isn’t a big gap in between these 5 and the top 3.
Upper middle:
Alpha Chi Omega
Alpha Phi
Kappa Delta
Phi Mu
Lower middle:
Alpha Omicron Pi
Alpha Gamma Delta
Delta Zeta
Gamma Phi Beta
Sigma Kappa
Alpha Xi Delta
Bottom:
Alpha Epsilon Phi
Delta Phi Epsilon
Sigma Delta Tau
Alpha Sigma Alpha
Phi Sigma Sigma
Sigma Sigma Sigma
Alpha Sigma Tau
Theta Phi Alpha
These are all sororities that a lot of people have never heard of. The first 3 are stronger than the rest. The next 3 are in the middle of the bottom sororities. and the last 2 are the weakest of the bottom.
(But that is my observation on this group..I don’t know very much at all about these 8 sororities - they are practically non existent in the south - so some one else may have them arranged differently)
In my opinion there is a big gap between bottom and top/middle.
You could argue that Phi Mu should be moved from upper middle to lower middle since they are very strong in the south but not really elsewhere, and you could argue that Sigma Kappa and AXiD should be moved to their own tier between lower middle and bottom.
All of these sororities are great. They are just all different and they have different strengths and weaknesses. And of course, there are strong and weak chapters from every NPC group.
#23by: Very very wrong
Most of these are very very wrong. DDD and XO are really strong in the south but they are bottom of bottom at the majority of schools elsewhere. I'm a part of my sororities colonization team and I have really good knowledge of the tiers across North America. The sororities who are:
Most consistently top tier and almost never bottom are: APhi and Pi Phi
Very often top: Theta, Gphi, DG
God awful bottom: DDD, Kappa, AOPi, Tri Sig
On one hand, DDD is a powerhouse in the south and Kappa is really strong in Cali but I find the downfall with these chapters is that their nationals go all in at their top houses and pay little attention to the schools that are bottom. They put a lot of pressure on the bottom sororities to have better member retention and it causes a lot of stress which causes even more issues... I'm generalizing but with these sororities the strong chapters typically get stronger and the weak chapters get weaker til they end up losing their charters. With some of the top houses, Nationals reaches out to the bottom tier chapters and have people visit to help reform them, which goes a long way in maintaining consistency.

All houses have strengths and weaknesses. What you need to remember is what is right for YOU right now. If Greek life/involvement is something you want to pursue outside of the MU PHA when looking at graduate school or finding a job, then is when your national chapter's standing and alumni groups make a difference on who you pledge at the collegiate level.
