Tri-Delta, Alpha Delta Pi, and Chi O are usually pretty good in most places. Kappa and Zeta are usually good too.

Tri-Sigma is usually pretty bad.. In fact, I don't know of any school where they are a top house.

Is only good at some small state "directional" schools in the Midwest and a handful of smaller schools in the South and on the East Coast (ECU, Elon, James Madison, Radford).

probably Kappa, Pi Phi, Theta, DG, Tri Delt, and Chi O overall. ADPi, KD, Phi Mu and a few others are very strong at Southern schools but not quite as present in the rest of the country, and there are a few that are stronger in the Midwest/Northeast. There are probably 5 or 6 that aren't too established nationally compared to the others.

Pi Phi is awful in the South, though

Absolutely not. They aren't as strong as Kappa/KD/ADPi/Phi Mu in the South, but they're top at practically every Texas school and are at least good at some SEC/ACC schools.

KD and Phi Mu are THE top houses in the South, (Florida, Georgia, Ole Miss, Alabama, etc., etc., etc.) believe it or not, but that's pretty much the only places. Nationally I'd say Pi Phi, DDD, Kappa, Theta, DG and Chi O.

KD and Phi Mu are dreadful in Florida, KD is only good at UF and FSU. And Phi Mu has never been a top house at Ole Miss, ever.

I'd say Chi O, Kappa, pi phi and theta or tridelt are the best nationally. All the chapters have some schools where they are the best and also the worst.

ChiO, ZTA, Kappa are probably the strongest nationally along with being top houses at almost all the Southern schools.

Theta, Kappa, Pi Phi

By: big three

buy the big 3. Kappa seems like their in a tier of their own nationally if anything, and Pi Phi and Theta are next along with DG, Tri Delt and Chi O.

Kappa, Theta, DG, Pi Phi, DDD, Chi O

Better ones:
Zeta, ADPi, Alpha Phi, AXO, KD

Heard of them, but only strong in random places:
DZ, AOPi, Gamma Phi, Alpha Gam, Phi Mu, Sigma Kappa, SSS

Who the hell?
AEPhi, ASA, AST, Alpha Xi, DPhiE, Phi Sigma Sigma, SDT, Theta Phi Alpha

Alpha Xi should move up one and Tri-Sig should move down.

agreed, it's pretty good for the most part except for that, and the description of the third tier is pretty bad.

Thats why Phi is listed as strong in only some areas...because they are only strong in the South......

Being top tier at a bunch of SEC schools hardly counts as random places, needed to choose better names for the tiers. Alpha Xi should be in 3, they're comparable to SK and AGD nationally, and SSS should probably be in 4. Otherwise this is dead on (except poorly naming the tiers).

Pretty much agree here, with a few corrections (most that people have mentioned):

National Top Tier:
Chi Omega
Delta Delta Delta
Delta Gamma
Kappa Alpha Theta
Kappa Kappa Gamma
Pi Beta Phi

Upper Mid-Tier:
Alpha Chi Omega
Alpha Delta Pi
Alpha Phi
Kappa Delta
Zeta Tau Alpha

Middle Tier:
Alpha Omicron Pi
Delta Zeta
Gamma Phi Beta
Phi Mu

Lower Mid-Tier:
Alpha Gamma Delta
Alpha Xi Delta
Sigma Kappa

Lower Tier:
Alpha Sigma Alpha
Phi Sigma Sigma
Sigma Delta Tau
Sigma Sigma Sigma

Huh...?
Alpha Epsilon Phi
Alpha Sigma Tau
Delta Phi Epsilon
Theta Phi Alpha

put phi mu in upper mid and take aphi down to middle. i'd also put gphi into lower mid because their nationals are pretty weak and they aren't top at most schools. DG is probably also in the same level as ADPi and Zeta is top nationally.

By: almost right.

better than the last one though, and the tiers are less stupid.

Zeta and DG both have big names nationally, you could argue a top 7 and include both. Top 6 goes to DG for chapters at ivy schools and larger pockets of strong chapters. You really can't narrow it down from top 6 because they are all so big, involved, and well known. Zeta deserves a top 7 list though.

That's reasonable. You can't have Zeta without DG, but you could put both as top.

Is probably bottom of the top, number 7ish. Pi Phi is strong at a few SEC schools and every Texas school they're at, Kappa is sort of their own level of prominence nationally, Theta is strong all over Texas and a few big Southern schools but they're generally top at highly ranked academic schools too, Tri Delt is strong except in the Western/West Coast schools generally, Chi O and DG are strong all over the place but not to the extent Kappa is, and maybe not as regionally strong as some of the others.

How can you say GPhi is below DZ and Phi Mu? Phi Mu IS very strong in the South/SEC (which might be one of the reasons Phi Mu is slowly getting better at Mizzou), but they aren't too strong in the rest of the country. DZ is not at a lot of the major universities around the country. GPhi is huge on the West Coast, is at most of the major Midwest Schools, and has been expanding into the SEC schools. I think you have to figure in the quality of the universities in this equation.
