Top 3 are PiPhi, Kappa, ADPi. Worst? ChiO, which is an architectural disaster, and SK (for obvious reasons).

You been here? ChiO's house is several leagues nicer than boring ADPi's (fits your girls personalities tho)

Chi o is literally sinking, that's why they said architectural disaster. Yes, it is still gorgeous.

Perhaps ChiO is a disaster structurally, but also architecturally. It is a aesthetic abomination: derivative, no sense of proportion, too many external design gimmicks. It will never withstand the test of time. ADPi on the other hand, is a gem. Classic style, perfect placement, grand yet eloquent. The landscaping also is wonderful. And before you accuse me of being an ADPi, save your time. I am a design student with a focus on classicism. You know, just because you don't like a sorority doesn't mean it isn't architecturally significant. PiPhi and Kappa stand apart, too.

ChiO? Gorgeous. Hardly. It's the McMansion of Greektown, and that's not a good thing. Proves the adage that taste and money rarely go hand in hand.

The outside of gamma Phi Beta is absolutely beautiful!! I think DG will be stunning too but they don't have a lawn which will suck for bid day, serenades, philanthropy events, and stuff like that:/

Design major here. We actually have studiedthe architecture of PiPhi, AXO, Kappa and ADPi. They also are the most historic.

The Gamma Phi and Theta houses are rather generic. Pretty, but nothing special, esp. the exteriors.I'd put Zeta in with that group. The PiPhi, ADPi and AXO houses are beautiful inside and out. Kappa is gorgeous on the outside, but the last time I was in the house (2 years ago) the interior was in need of updating. The old DG house was a gem. I hope the new one has more architectural integrity than the new ChiO house. Alpha Phi is in need of a facelift. And let's not talk about SK.

What do people actually think of the SK house? Was it a turnoff during rush?

By: So?
by: Well

I just sort of thought of it as a "which of these don't belong" scenario. It's sort of an odd split level sort of thing and looks more like a frat house. No, I wouldn't want to live there and got rid of SK right away.

SK isn't a split level. Before they came back on campus, a frat did rent it out. With them being relatively new on campus and all i think its hard to get funding for renovations. I agree there need to be updates, but if you think about it theres not much they can do. Theyre trapped in by the tri delt parking lot, ATO, behind and Phi Mu annex. They have NO room to expand except for upwards. Good luck to them with that. If they want to grow their house theyll need to do something

Which houses are the oldest on campus? I'd be curious about those structures that lasted (with updates) over the years.

I'm not sure which are the oldest, but Kappa and PiPhi are on the Historic Register.

ΣΝ was 100. Read that in the Missourian last year.

The Sigma Nu house is an architectural gem on the outside. Not so much on the inside. And while the fraternity may be 100 here at Mizzou, I doubt the house is that old. Just like PiPhi and AdPi have been here more than 100 years (Kappa, too, I think), but the PiPhi house dates to the 1930s.

by: Phi Mu House

Colonized May 2013, the current Phi Mu house was originally built as theirs as a gift from Phi Mu Nationals in the late 1920s. When they shut down their chapter during/after WWII the physical house eventually ended up in Lambda Chi's hands, until Phi Mu recolonized in the 1990's and the sisters took the house back and renovated. When Phi Mu took over the structure, they found their old letters for the front of the house in the basement!

I'd say that is pretty historic!

SAE's house was plotted in the 1820s and served as a Civil War hospital and a girl's dorm before it was owned by the fraternity.

I wasn't talking just exterior. But I get where you are coming from. I found it interesting you didn't mention any of the newer ones, save Beta.

The newer houses are rather generic. Beta's architecture is, too, but the interior was well thought out.

I kinda like the newer houses. Each one has its pluses and minuses of course. Beta is gorgeous, really nice inside and out. I just wonder how they hold any parties. .ΔΥ is very nice as well, the rooms in particular. I personally am not a fan of underground parking, I would be curious how useful it really is, how many cars can it hold? That is a real opportunity missed to add extra square footage, in Greektown. Farmhouse may not be new, but really cool design with the courtyard. ΣΝ is not complete yet, but it is looking very similar to the old house, curious to see what the inside looks like.

Regardless, it is nice to see Greeks are planning for the future with these new structures and all the renovations.

The original AXO house was built in 1925. The chapter was established at Mizzou in 1922. There have been several additions and numerous renovations. The most recent additions were 1988 and 2013.
