While a 28 is below average for sororities, it's Einstein-esque for fraternities. Except for Beta, I doubt fraternities even look at ACT scores.

As an Alum with some influence. If your ACT/GPA is good enough to get into Mizzou, you most likely will be given a chance at most Fraternities. Case in point, son got a 19 on his ACT, but his grades were a 3.6 and he was captain of his athletic team. This was at a private school in Stl. Grades/ACT are a factor, but they are not the only factor. My fraternity has a higher GPA requirement to get initiated than most, but they would still take him based on other factors, even if he wasn't a legacy.

A 19 on the ACT, a 3.6 GPA? Further proof that St.Louis private schools are a joke. If your check doesn't bounce, you get A's. I'm in a sorority, not a fraternity, but I can tell you that the girls in my pledge class who struggled most when it came to grades were from St. Louis private schools.

Well, that may be your experience. But my daughter went to private elementary and middle school only to decide to go to public for High School and did extremely well. Some people are hard workers but don't test well. My point is that don't be afraid to rush a fraternity if your ACT isn't great. I had a very high ACT and damn near flunked out. My roommate graduated from Viannny and is to this day the smartest person I ever met.

I hate that some people are smart "but they don't test well" rationalization. You know what it takes to test well? Actual knowledge.

A little frat boy at Mizzou who went to Vianney is the smartest person you've ever met?? Really? You need to get out more.

Well he is an Electrical engineer, so I think he is at least literate. You are missing the point, ACT is not the end all be all when rushing. I would rather have a involved member with a lower ACT than a high ACT slug. And if you believe that Greeks are stupid, just look at the GPA's published by Greek Life. Greek GPA routinely ranks above the All Male average. I am not here to argue with someone that is obviously biased against greeks, I am here to encourage anyone that is thinking about rushing, to go for it. College is a clean slate. Nobody gives a crap about your ACT score anymore.

Not biased against Greeks at all, but I am biased against someone who says the typical frat boy had a 30 ACT when most frats barely rank above the all-school average.
