I'm glad to see someone mention upperclassman. Sororities at Mizzou haven't taken upperclassman in years. It seems to be the culture. Four years ago, when I graduated there were a few girls in my sorority that always wanted to take sophomores, but we never would unless through COB. Very rare. All other colleges in Missouri take sophomore-seniors. There are a lot of advantages. During my time there I served as my chapter treasurer and I saw how most sororities lose a lot of girls going into their junior and senior years. So those freshman everyone has to have just leave their junior year. So taking upperclassman would keep those classes full and provide the houses with fees. When you lose girls you lose fees. Sororities can't survive without paying the bills. Also, upperclassman want to be there and want to participate otherwise they wouldn't go through recruitment. Will be interesting to see how recruitment goes this year. I have family friends going through so will be watching.

Everything will be fine. Girls will still rush sororities, however, my advise to the sororities is to seek upperclassmen as well and forget the option of expansion of another sorority for a while or just until this University gets it act together and start increasing the enrollment.

Particularly important to look at upperclassmen going thru recruitment. Whether they are transfers, or first timers, we would be smart to welcome all who go thru.
Upperclassmen know they have to compete extra hard, so I view them as much more commited to pledging than freshmen.

With enrollment declining, and registration being down as well; this may be a really good time for all of the sororities to be more open and receptive to sophomores, juniors, and even seniors. These girls will generally bring higher GPA's, stability, and maturity that can only benefit each House. Many of these girls may have been overlooked in previous recruitments, but are still interested in being part of the Greek System. Give them a chance.
