your sorority's gpa doesn't matter

by:

Your sorority GPA does NOT affect your own GPA (90% of Mizzou agrees.) Your sorority's social life DOES affect your own social life (74% of Mizzou agrees.) So let's see... I think I'm a pretty smart girl, I have a 4.0 in a challenging program here at Mizzou. The takeaway I get from this is the same mentality I had going into recruitment - I'd rather choose a sorority based on their social life and philanthropy over their academic reputation. There simply is no point otherwise. If you need your sisters to have "high" (aka mediocre 3.5GPAs) to make yourself feel special, y'all have got bigger problems!

30,000 students at Mizzou agree that your sorority gpa doesn't affect your gpa.
Do you REALLY think 30,000 students at Mizzou have EVER given this a thought?
Grasping at straws, my dear, grasping at straws.
Gpa matters when half of your sisters are no longer your sisters because they've been placed on academic probation and can not attend functions. Gpa matters when half of your sisters drop because of grades. Gpa matters when you are looking for long term friendships with your sisters, but your sisters keep changing and dwindling because of THIER GPA!
Yes, gpa does matter when looking for quality, long lasting sisterhood.
Wow.

^You are 100% correct. Of course GPA matters. It's all about standards and expectations and the best students would rather poke their eye out with an ice pick than join a house that doesn't have grade cuts. But let's put things in perspective and consider the source. The OP can't get enough attention and she says outrageous things just to be noticed. She is a sad little shut-in who has few friends and no life. As an Alpha Phi, she is desperate to be taken seriously. Ignore her and eventually she will go away.

GPA affects your sorority, not yourself as an individual. I have a 4.0 and my sororitys GPA is 3.3. If my sorority had a 2.8 GPA guess what?! I'd still have a 4.0

Lol, to @?,
Even your self suggested 4.0 can't help your reading skills?
Read what ? said. It makes sense. Don't try to justify a house that can't pull decent grades-there's no excuse. Implement study hours, but then again when it was suggested they were afraid they'd 'scare off' the 'hot' girls they were trying to recruit.
Please.
Every. single. house. has 'hot' girls. Every. single. house. has grade cuts-and even the other 'hot' houses that didn't-now do-and they are tough to break into.
Seriously, please don't try to impress upon anyone that a houses gpa does not matter.

Her message, while valid, doesn't change a word I've said. Your sorority GPA has no affect on your own GPA. Ever. Just like your neighbour in your pathetic humanities class with their 67% doesn't affect your own sad 77% you ADPi's so pride yourself on.

ADPi is proud of a 3.4 I wouldn't call that high standards especially considering y'all are in arts and humanities 😂

Why in the world would you want to join a house? To make lifelong friends and sisters?
Or to be the sole survivor? One of the few girls left in your pledge class, or the class that moved into the sorority house-you lose so many sisters along the way because of grades-but you are right-I guess YOU feel good about yourself..
Lifelong sisters? No. Feeling superior to other girls that cant pull a decent gpa to remain active? up to each individual, I guess.

Affect was a mess up but neighbour is correct for me I'm Canadian 🙄 And to the "sole survivor" are you insane?? All PCs stay at like 80 minimum, my sorority's 3.3 GPA is not far enough from your precious 3.5 to have any EFFECT on the life of our PCs, dramatic or what? Typical adpi

You don't even know the rule of 32 for one (I do - can't comprehend why the hell the number is 32 but I can use it well enough to get 100% on my exams, while you apparently haven't even heard of them term) and secondly, the deviation is .3. Im sorry if statistics is too tough for you to comprehend (that is why you're working at H&R block isn't it?) but standard deviation is a means of calculating normal distribution. Of which every house is within the same percentile, mor.on. Maybe you should start socializing and you wouldn't feel the need to spend your life wishing you had mine. You can go

C'mon people! Bottom line is-Mizzou has a pretty high cut off compared to other big schools with competitive rushes(don't compare to other SEC schools, we are too new to that-look at schools like UofI, Indiana or Iowa-enrollment and out of state as well as in state).
Almost every single one of our houses has a grade cut ABOVE the recommended gpa. Actually, I think as of this past fall recruitment, we had one house that had no cut off at all.
Of course GPA is important! Especially considering what someone else said-you want sisters who are with you for your college experience. When girls are dropping-or getting dropped-because of low grades, that should be a red flag. Also, if the only criteria for a house is that you know someone from your high school or hometown, as well as looking a certain way-beware. There's no reason to go away to college if you feel you need to cling to a bunch of girls from your high school..a top sorority here learned that the hard way-that should have been a lesson to EVERY sorority.
There are several sororities that made HUGE changes to their bimbo image-they are the rising stars. If you are still recruiting based off looks alone, you DO KNOW you are taking every other houses left overs.EVERY HOUSES LEFTOVERS.
