rec letters

by:

Are they necessary? I'm looking to rush aphi, gphi, or zta as my top three right now (next fall as a freshman)

Also Do you follow up with alumnae when getting a letter or ask them any more questions?

Rec letters are always beneficial no matter the house! I will say if you are aiming for low tier houses like aphi and zeta, they aren't quite a sure important because those houses are typically easier to get into.

Easy to get into if you're pretty and social which is obviously what OP is looking for.

APhi takes just about anyone, so don't worry much about a rec letter for that one. But for the other houses on campus, a rec never usually helps and can never hurt.

You just keep thinking they're selective. The reality is that they take the girls no one else will take, some of whom are pretty.

ADPi and Theta are pure GPA houses. You can keep telling yourselves that choosing GPA makes you selective, it really just means a bunch of losers get to feel relevant for once in their lives because their "sorority thinks they're top tier" even though you're completely irrelevant and no one wants to socialize with you.

Here we have yet another girl who is not too bright spouting off about something she knows nothing about. I can assure you it takes much more than just grades to get into Theta or ADPi -- or PiPhi or ChiO or any other selective house. And, hun, only in YOUR world are high-achieving women with stellar GPA's a "bunch of losers."

A 3.5 is far from stellar, loser

Zeta will take anyone. Year round. So if you can't get into a better house in formal, there are multiple opportunities to join zeta throughout the year.

by: Hmm

Actually they don't.

Haven't they COBed more than once already this year? Yeah. That's what I thought.

Zeta definitely doesn't have their pick like Tri Delta, GPhi and DG, but they definitely don't take anyone. A lot of their members actually went to the previously mentioned houses on preference day, but fell short on bid day. Zeta puts on a good show during recruitment, so they are able to finess some girls they want, not even close as many as selective houses, but enough. I only cut them after philanthropy round myself. Did they COB twice? Ya, but you try having a whole website tarnish your repuatation on campus and temporarily have no house and see if you don't have girls drop.

hey original poster here! I was actually wondering why everyone is saying Aphi will take anyone if they aren't bottom tier. I'm a very social, outgoing girl with a pretty face. However, I don't have a stellar GPA so I figured Aphi would be a good fit for me.

APhi isn't bottom tier, certain houses that frequent this website hate on them because they recruit primarily based on looks and social life. The only relevant houses socially are gphi, tridelt, Pi phi, axo and aphi. If your gpa isn't strong (depending on how low it is) gphi, aphi and tridelt are great options for you

the only house that doesn't have a gpa cut off is aphi. tri delt has always had a cut off and gphi raised theirs to a ridiculously high level, but then again they can. aphi cobs all semester long, that way they do not show the drop in numbers.
if you are looking for a true college experience, go away, become independent, raise your standards so you can get decent grades, and don't follow a bunch of people you know. I think one of the biggest problems in the aforementioned house is the few girls that don't know anyone feel very isolated after bid day because so many cliques carry over from high school, right into college and the sorority house. Strive high, visit every house-and go with your gut.
