why do people talk down on cob
by: WellSo I really didn't know much about Greek life or anyone apart of it prior to college so signing up for recruitment never crossed my mind. I saw bid day, which sparked my interest in sororities so i looked more into joining a sorority and a girl I met led me to COB events at her chapter, and luckily i was given bid and invited to become a member. It was early in the school year and no one knew each other yet so I thought it wasn't even going to be noticeable I did COB. My sorority is unanimously respected on this site and on campus so I guess that gave some people I know the audacity to say that us COB girls aren't as good as the rest of our pledge class who were bidded from recruitment and that we're just "passable space fillers". Why are people so mean?

The reality is that the good houses don't COB and those who do just choose their friends rather thank making the time and effort to increase their status, not just their numbers. It is a process that is suspect at best and, likely, discriminatory. Plus, how do you know what house you fit in best if you only look at one? If you are happy, good for you. But keep in mind the only reason your house COB'd is because they didn't have a good rush and are financially unstable enough that they had to boost their numbers quickly. That's not the kind of house I would want to join.

Thanks for the feedback but what does this have to do with anything I wrote lol? Also I am not a zeta or sigma. After going on this site I personally never thought my house would never do COB because "good houses dont't COB" but here I am. We're not top house per say, but we are pretty coveted. Anyway my actual focus is why people look down on girls who got bids outside of recruitment?

Mean but true... zeta has cobed TWICE this fall. And the house took over 90 girls during recruitment (second biggest PC next to sigma). If that's not a red flag about poor retention, I don't know what is! I would not want to join a house that girls keep dropping.
