choose a real major

by:

Drop your useless liberal arts degree and work on a real major. S/O to my #1 fan I just signed with my big 4 firm on a full time offer upon my graduation. To the rest of you, want a job before you even graduate? TAKE A REAL MAJOR. Yes that means STEM related. Hard skills. Come out with at least one hard skill! Or not, just keep wasting your money and move back home after graduation like all my sisters who took humanities degrees, that's a great plan too.

If you find it surprising that someone could get a job before graduation you're in the wrong major just saying

I'm graduating with my B.A in English and I've also taken a job offer in NYC before graduating. The degree doesn't mean as much as the experience you have in the field you want. Internships will get you far and even having a degree will as well. Attitudes like the one OP has will not.

I am graduating with a dual major in history and library and information science. I have three job offers in hand and am debating whether to stay in the Midwest or accept the job with the Smithsonian in D.C., where I interned. The starting pay for all three ranges from $72,500 to $89,000. So you can take your little bean counting degree where you work like a drone as an auditor in a little room down a dark hall for PWC or Ernst & Young if you want, but I would prefer interacting with actual people, thinking creatively and playing to my individual strengths rather than being a robot who hates every minute of the long hours you will work. But, hey, that's just me.

Accountants at the big 4 interact with their clients every single day and your post is complete BS, I'd love to hear the job title for your history job that makes 70k right off the bat, what a joke. You're the same jobless loser that claimed she had a job in NYC with her English degree, quit making up stories and start redecorating your room in your parents basement, you'll be spending a lot of time there.

Accountants are known for being rigid and arbitrary. They see the world as black and white and, as a result, are the antithesis of intellectual. First year accountants at the Big Four have the highest dropout rate of any profession, simply because they are doing work suited for chimps and automatons. The interaction between auditor and client mainly consists of the auditor asking the client for proof of a deduction and the client rolling his/her eyes. The most hated phrase in corporate America? "The auditors are coming." But that probably the kind of interaction that you find stimulating. Even so, you are more judgmental than most and far less tolerant. You give accountants a bad name. Now, get off this board because no one, and I mean NO ONE is impressed with you.

Awwww someone is bitter for my success. I've interned at my big 4 for a year and a half and will be a senior after half a year of ft work so I wouldn't worry about dropping out or doing beginner tasks, the big 4 take the best of the best, sorry you could never cut it in our world. PS you're clearly confused. The auditors that clients hate are IRS auditors, VERY different work. IRS is searching for flaws so they can take your money, Big 4 is adding value and providing expert opinions that allow the company's shareholders to trust and have faith in the organizations they invest in. Lastly, thanks for withholding your prestigious Bachelor of Arts in history job title from me. Not at all shocked that that was complete BS, im surprised you didn't add a story about your super successful humanities major/MBA sister but oh ya, that's right I called you out for that so you had to switch up your stories. Good one!

Thank you op for your advice. I do however hope your attitude and know it all personality calms down a bit. You obviously are rigid and judgemental. However, your career choice does not appeal to everyone. Since you love it so much, itis a good thing that you chose it for yourself. I am sure the history and English majors out there are equally happy with their choice of major. Try to relax just a little bit and avoid this site as it obviously brings out the worst in you.

The fact that y'all get so angry just goes to show how rigid and "arbitrary" (history majors must not involve English classes) you are, just sayiiiin

No I am a bioscience major- pre med w a great GPA. Sorry I have a workable although not talented ability to communicate. Anyone who has read more than one book a year would use rigid or even arbitrary in their daily language. We aren't in grammar school anymore.

Ummm according to these messages the one who used the word arbitrary was the history major but thanks for outing yourself as pretending to be 3 different people with 3 polar opposite majors now... LOOOL
