kappa question?

by:

I've heard that Kappa Kappa Gamma does not participate in Informal, but it is still possible to get a bid. Should I try becoming friends with a bunch of members? What should I go about doing to get the bid? Also, what other sororities are most likely to do this/informal in general?

The best way to get into a good house is to go through formal rush in fall. Everything else is a crapshoot.

But then you have to "maximize your bids" meaning likely getting stuck in a house you don't want.

No one says you HAVE TO maximize your bids. If you don't want to be in a house, don't list it. It's that simple. Maximizing is for people who have decided they absolutely want to be Greek, no matter which house. It's not for everyone. There are many people who would rather not be Greek than winding up with a house they don't want.

Do people typically have a bad view of Kappa or something? I just know it's hard to get into certain houses during informal?

I wouldn't say bad view but they're very mediocre and forgotten

@Well: What houses do you recommend then? I honestly don't want to end up in a bad house

Then go through formal rush, because the outstanding houses don't do informal. It's that simple.

Nope. No one goes into recruitment wanting kappa (or adpi) so those two aren't in the other's leagues. Op, it depends what you value, if you give a little more info we could give you some suggestions

Grade cuts are not the only cuts honey! You need to come to that realization sooner than later

I rushed as a sophomore and got what I wanted. As a freshman I didn't know much about Greek life and it was too late by the time I was interested. My freshman rommate was in my sorority and was the one who introduced me to all of her friends as she was making them. Often times at the beginning girls would literally confuse me for being a member (at the time at least) because I hung around them and at the sorority house so much. When I came toward the end of freshman year all of my friends begged me to go through recruitment so I can finally be apart of them and surely I did and got my bid!!! I of course had the GPA and other qualifications, but having 10 girls willing to fight for me was very helpful too.

There is a sorority I could be in right now, but I don't know how I feel about it 100%...should I just take the bid because I want to go Greek really badly or should I wait?

Kappa does not hand out bids at all during the year, period. formal recruitment is the only time anyone can receive a bid to Kappa. house board rules (alumni decide this and this hasn't changed in over 30 years).
