making dorm friends
by: Sad faceSo hardly any people on my floor in my dorm went through recruitment so I kind feel like the black sheep sorority girl. I try my hardest to say hi, be nice and go to the common areas to hang, but I hardly am ever included in conversations or acknowledged. What made me think it was cause I'm in a sorority was when I heard some girls say some rude things related to Greek life about me once I left the bathroom one particular time. Is this a normal occurrence? Or did I just get unlucky? Thank goodness I went through recruitment or else I'd realistically only have my roommate as my friend.

Sorority life isn't for everyone. The worst thing that we do as members of the Greek community is pass judgment and look down on people who aren't Greek. There is no right or wrong way to go through college. Not everyone can afford to join a sorority or has the time, especially if they have jobs. The best thing you can do is be friendly, be engaged and be open-minded. There is no reason to think everyone you meet will become a good friend, but please keep trying. You'd never know it by spending any time on this website, but kindness can be the key.
