by: PNMSo can anyone tell me how COB works? Am I supposed to put myself out there and email houses or just wait and hope that some come to me? I would love to reach out, but I don't know if that's overbearing or looked down on. Any advice helps, thank you!!

No one can tell you how COBing works because it is a secret, selective, inherently discriminatory system. You sign up or you contact the rush chair or you make it known that you are interested in being considered and then you wait. And usually you don't hear from anyone. Or if you do it's because you know someone in the house. The thing is, the good houses don't COB and the houses that do are content with choosing women who have friends in the house. In other words, mediocrity breeds mediocrity. I can't say this enough: if you are interested in going Greek, do formal rush. And for those who think the system ISN'T discriminatory, tell me whether your house has EVER chose a woman of color during COBing. The COB process is a black mark on an otherwise great Greek system. Panhel really has to do something about it and the fact that it has been so unfair for so long is an embarrassment.
