will i get cut with a 2.9 gpa?
by: Ehaving a 2.9 GPA because of awful grades in the past (freshman year), and good grades junior and senior year, will i get cut from most sororities? if not all. junior and senior year I had 3.4's. I am also out of state and will barely have any connections. I can get really good letter of recs, but im really nervous.

The better houses will cut you, sight unseen, because of grades. They include Theta, PiPhi, ADPi, Kappa, ChiO, possibly AXO and, at least in the past, TriDelt. If you are willing to settle for a house that is lower tier or lower mid-tier, I would say go for it. But the problem is if you can't get good grades in high school, you might want to concentrate on academics instead of having the busy demands of 1st semester sorority life. If that works out for you, you are probably the perfect candidate for sophomore rush. You can use your college GPA and no one will care that you blew it in high school. And you also can meet a variety of people in the dorm/classes this year who might be in your corner next year. The recs will help, too. Be sure to let the women writing them know about your good college grades.

Your problem is probably not just the grades, it's lack of connections. So many of the houses here pull from where they know people like pockets of Chicago and such. If you know nobody, don't expect it to be fair, they won't be able to really get to know you in 10 minutes and you will be cut because there's too many girls they do know and probably with better grades.
