by: 20Wondering about Sig Ep given the recent troubles, membership review, and guys getting booted out. Would a freshman with a bid be smart to accept a bid or is Sig Ep gonna be shut down?

You may be jumping to conclusions about Sig Ep losing its charter. Yet it wouldn't surprise too many people if that were to happen. As far as rushing other frats -- you've already said "brothers" and that's what guys would remain - brothers, members of Sig Ep. That's the case unless the national organization withdraws membership privileges from some guys, kicks them out of the fraternity. It's really unlikely other fraternities on campus would have any interest in rushing men expelled from another Greek organization. And that's especially the case if they think in terms of "frat" instead of fraternity. When are guys going to understand and realize that it's the "frat" mentality that detracts from the values of "fraternity". A frat man does not hold and live to high standards and values as does a fraternity man.

NO. Once brothers have been fully initiated into the fraternity, they cannot join another fraternity if their current chapter gets closed. They will be granted Alumni Status or unless the Sig Ep IHQ decides to release all members from the fraternity which will allow them to join the existing fraternities on campus. But that rarely happens.

Pretty sure SigEp initiates immediately when a bid is accepted because of balance man principle. So the freshman would be excluded and out of luck just like everyone else.

Maybe membership review of the chapter. This will help eliminate the "Deadwood" and/or so called "Problem Brothers" from their brotherhood.

The new guys had nothing to do with what happened. Why should they be forced to suffer whatever punishment?

I can't believe that there are so many people on this site defending Sig Ep. Why is what they did acceptable? Why are we not ALL interested in being the best we can be? There are tons of other fraternities on this campus who play by the rules. Sig Ep is an embarrassment and needs to be gone.
