How many sororities actually go through informal recruitment? And around how many girls? Maybe go off last yet?

It really depends upon where they are at with chapter quota.

And some COB more out in the open and other's do it very, very quietly.

CON is often a very quiet process and if you done know someone in the house you want to COB for you might not know that they are COBIng at all. Some houses may take 10ish girls but most take even less. At my sorority, if we do COB it is much more competitive to get a bid as compared to formal recruitment. Some houses may take big pledge classes though. It is all dependent on how many actives they have and how many actives they are aloud to have maximum.
