Lots of girls dropped today. Scores of them. But let's be clear, they dropped only because they were dropped. They didn't make a commitment to being Greek, they just made a commitment to their egos that they wanted to be able to boast about their house. And when they were dropped by the ones they bragged about, they decided to quit. One of the reasons our sorority system is so strong as that those who belong are totally committed to the system and making it better. If you were going through the motions just so you could brag, you wouldn't be much of a sister anyway. Adios!

I can't sleep because I am worried about just this sort of thing. I'm not thrilled with the choices I have left, but I also want to give them a chance. It's not easy to adjust my expectations, but I'm keeping my mind open because I really want to be in a sorority the way my sister and mother were. I thought this would be a piece of cake but I was cut by my legacy house. It's not easy to deal with the anger I have.

Many girls are cut even if they're legacies. I was a legacy to chi o and was cut the day before pref. So I dropped out of recruitment all together. I felt really left out fall semester with all my dorm friends busy with homecoming and socials. I ended up COBing late fall with more of an open mind to give other houses a chance, and I'm glad I did!

Dear Wow, I hate to say this because you probably made a big mistake by dropping if you really want to be Greek. At this point, the chances are if you try to COB you will probably end up in a house that you just dropped. You may have an extremely slight chance of another house by COB but very doubtful. The only thing you did now was loose out on sisterhood, bid day , homecoming and all of fall semester. My heart goes out to you, trust me I did the same stupid thing. I let ego get in the way but it took a good 7 month's ending up in a house that I dropped. All I can say now is that I am so glad that I did join because really everything is fine and I've never had so much fun. Yes there are akward girls in every house, but once you find your niche girls within it's the same friendships as in any house. I've accepted my mistake, moved on from it and know now in hindsight it was a big mistake. I'm just lucky I am in a house. :)

"Mistake," she hasn't dropped. She just said she is upset that her legacy house cut her but that she is giving other houses a chance. Are you ALWAYS this mean? Or are you just stupid. And to "Wow," you are doing everything right. Open your mind to new possibilities. You won't be disappointed. Remember the reason your mom and sister were so happy is, first and foremost, because they were Greek. The individual house was just a means to that end.

I'm so sorry that you were released by your legacy house and you are not thrilled with your options. But this is a fantastic Greek system and you are so lucky to still be in the running! I promise that you're making the right choice by giving your remaining chapters a chance. Best of luck to you!
