Which group is more likely to get a bid? Is it easier/better to be one vs. the other going thru recruitment?

Are you saying that the houses won't look at sophomores, or that their opportunities aren't as plentiful?

There are houses who don't typically look at sophomores and others that are more open to them.

It's a money thing. They are an organization that must keep afloat, and if you pledge as a sophomore then you are only a member for three, not four years of your collegiate experience.

It's a maturity issue too. If you pledge as a sophomore you don't move into the house until junior year. Most junior are or turn 21, and the types of things that interest 21-year-old are very different from the things that underclass(wo)men do. Plus when you are a junior you are usually very committed to your major and deep into the types of classes that really count and are very time consuming, and yet that's when you also should be extremely involved in sorority activities that take place while you live in the house. There is a bit of a generation gap between sophs and juniors, and that's the year that matters most.
