number of choices on the mraba

by:

Ok so I'm a freshman rushing and the whole cutting/preference process confuses me. On our schedule we go to two houses on Friday night, are we only allowed to put those two houses on our pref card for bid day, or do we put 3? And how often do girls make it to Friday and not get bids on Saturday?

When you sign an MRABA you are saying that you will accept a bid to ANY of the chapters you preference. You will go to a max of two houses on Friday, and you can opt to preference both chapters (A, B) ) or just one chapter (known as single intention preferencing or SIP). You will not be eligible for a bid to Chapter A if you only choose to put down chapter B, and vice versa.

If you put down ALL of your options (could be two chapters or one, depending on your pref schedule) then you will be placed with a chapter. That means if you only have one chapter on pref, you are guaranteed to be placed there. If you choose to SIP when you have two chapters available to pref, you potentially could wake up on Bid Day to a call saying you were not placed, because you did not maximize your options and the chapter you preffed matched to quota through their bid list before they got to you on the list (this could happen if you are not high on the list... say that quota is 80 and you are #115 on the bid list, and the chapter only needs to go up to #105 to match)

Hope that helps! Your best bet is if you want to be Greek and would fit in with both chapters you pref, pref both of them. That way, you are guaranteed to end up at one of them and live happily ever after.

You don't have any control, and won't have any knowledge, about where you are on a house's bid list. If you are at a house on pref day it means the women there could see you in their house and would be willing to extend you a Bid. But after that it's a numbers game that has many variables and it's not something you can influence or should be thinking about. If you maximize your options when you sign your MRABA, you will get a Bid from one of the houses you visit on Friday.

meant to say Saturday--pref day. That's the day you'll get a Bid from one of the houses you visit, as long as you maximize your options.
