recruitment at other schools

by:

Does anyone know...is rush/recruitment as brutal at other schools as it is at Mizzou?

I've heard from friends that Alabama and Auburn are the worst. And that recruitment is very competitive at all of the SEC schools.

Can anyone verify that?

Mizzou recruitment isn't even brutal, most girls find a house and are barely judged. Easily the least brutal in the SEC, Mizzou is a lot less uptight than other southern schools.

Mizzou has higher standards than most SEC schools, where grade cuts are not as high, legacies play a much larger role and there is almost no diversity. Mizzou's system also is more fair, perhaps because there are more out-of-state students (have you ever heard of someone from Chicago or Minneapolis going to Bama, Ole Miss or U. of Tennessee?) But many southern schools are more cutthroat because, let's face it, Greek life and tradition is all they have going for them.

I had never even heard of Auburn until Mizzou joined the SEC. Not exactly a bastion of academia.

I agree that Mizzou has higher standards than MOST of the SEC schools, but having family in Georgia, I can tell you it is almost impossible to get into UGA without close to a 4.0 now. Also, I know that Bama really recruits hard for top students from other states (particularly Florida and Texas) and gives out a lot of academic scholarships to keep the top Alabama students from leaving the state. Finally, Vanderbilt is seriously hard to get into, period, but they are really not classic SEC.

I think one of the reasons recruitment is brutal at Mizzou is because we are so locked into which are good houses and which are not good houses. If we were to lighten up and give every house a chance, I think fewer girls would drop and more would be happy at the end of the week. For example, it's time to consider all of the houses that have been established on this campus for a long time (50+ years) as quality houses. That means DG, APhi, GPhi and Zeta deserve consideration equal to the higher tier houses of Theta, PiPhi,Kappa, AXO, ADPi, ChiO and TriDelt (in no particular order). There is a reason they have lasted that long and it's because they are an important part of Mizzou's Greek heritage.

Nice way to give underhanded compliments like " bless your heart" lol. Sorry but you make it sound like all those listed are bottom tier and some are top tier that really aren't. Hahahahaha

Indiana University has a tough GREEK system. Held in the Spring, only 50 girls per house based on beds per pledge class. Many girls are CUT:(
