I know there are mixed feelings on here about what houses are good and bad but I thought I would ask for myself. Which houses should I look into and which houses should I avoid?

You also will find out soon enough that the houses choose you, you don't really choose the houses. I mean, you get to rank the houses, but you will only be invited back where you are wanted.

Maximize your options/choices and don't drop out just because you get cut from that "top tier" house that everyone wants.

Have faith in the system, most girls end up in the right house for who they are and what they value.
