rec letter confusion

Once someone sends in a Rec letter for myself, or just about anyone.. what do sororities do with it? I know there is a committee that goes through them all, but beyond that what happens? Do members in the house familiarize themselves with the girls that have rec letters? etc..

(not even sure if there is a special committee that does that lol)
