"i don't like being told what to do"

by:

I am so tired of hearing this phrase being thrown around and girls dropping their sorority because they member participation is required. If you hate instructions, rules and guidelines don't bother showing up to recruitment. Each chapter has requirements necessary to functionality, and it's important each member contributes to that. The fun stuff is great, but you won't always like what you have to do or attend, but it's whatever. I'm tired of the Panhellenic community welcoming girls only in it for the glitz and glamour who end up dropping anyway when girls who would be very involved active members get cut from recruitment. Say us some trouble, because being in a sorority requires more than just existing and if you can't handle that I'm sorry

I agree completely. Our Greek system is strong because of those who have made a commitment to helping it thrive. We are a generation that doesn't like to be told what to do and, unfortunately, our large pledge classes allow lots of members to get by doing very little. But if you don't want to commit to what a sorority stands for, don't pledge.
