gpa and acts

by:

Going through Recruitment in August with a 3.7 GPA but only a 24 ACT. I'm super involved and hold leadership positions, but my class rank isn't super high. I'm outgoing and friendly and I love people and being involved. Do I stand a chance with my ACT score and so so class rank?

Tbh as important grades are your personality is obviously the most important factor. My friend got cut from Theta after the first round of recruitment and she had a 4.0 GPA and 28 on her ACT.

ACT scores aren't everything. If you're friendly, have good activities and present yourself well you'll do fine!

There will be some houses that might not be interested, but most others will. Just be forewarned that you probably are from one of those schools where A's done mean much so you will have to work extra hard to keep your grades up in college. You might not want to get involved in lots of extracurriculars until you see how thjings go academically. I'm not being critical, just honest. ACT scores carry a lot of weight in my house. We look at them in tandem with grades and we see this a lot.

My GPA was a 3.8 with a 22 on my ACT and at the end of the week on pref day I had exactly who I wanted. One of the houses that I had was Theta. For some houses, ACT and GPA might mean everything, but for other houses, such as mine, we care more about personality. Yes, we still like to see you have a decent GPA, but we don't look at ACT/SAT often because it doesn't really show us anything.

I honestly think you'll be just fine with your GPA and ACT score!

If you were just a tad smarter you would know that being smart and having a personality are not mutually exclusive. You would also know that ACT score is a good measure of intelligence while grades are a good measure of study skills. My house wants both.

And my house wants both. I even specifically said that my house we care more about personality, but we also "still like to see you have a decent GPA". We don't really look at ACT. That is just how my house does it. Your house and every other house might do it differently. I personally don't think an ACT score is a good measurement because you can study for it as well.

I am sorry my house doesn't work the same was as yours does, that's just how my house works.

All the studying in the world won't raise your ACT by more than 8%, according to studies I've read. Now maybe you needed the 12%, and so you paid to take special classes. But most people I know took it once or twice without any special studying, and rocked it. I took it once. 33. Bam. Piece of cake.

My point is that my house specifically, doesn't normally look at ACT. You can study and study and get your grades up, but if you don't have the personality then we might be skeptical. We want girls that yes have a good GPA, but if it is on the lower side of the spectrum, but have an amazing personality, and participated in multiple activities in HS, those are the girls we will be more interested in.

I personally think schools and people place too much emphasis on the ACT. I personally think it is a memorization test. You guys have a different perspective on the ACT which is definitely okay, because it is all opinion. I was just letting OP know that some sororities won't really look at ACT, but some will.

I think the ACT is a pretty good way to compare girls because the ACT is the same for everyone while different high schools vary in difficulty

And if your HS sucks- you likely will have an average act.
