There are scholarships you can apply for once you are in a sorority. PHA and my sorority (I am sure all do something like this) have scholarships that a member can apply for! I don't know if that would help convince her, but it is always an option. Also, while going through recruitment, I would pay close attention to how much a house costs.
Another option is for you to get a part time job, if the time allows it, and pay half of it, or most of it.

I was super privileged and spoiled growing up and didn't end up appreciating the things my parents did for me (such as paying for my sorority.) My 2nd year here my mindset took a 180, your parents should not be paying for all this stuff! Work for it yourself, you should never feel entitled to anything - including sorority dues!

Remember that being part of a sorority is a great way to experience college, but not the only way. Go through rush, see how it goes, pledge if you'd like and bring your mom to campus for a weekend to show her what it is all about. If you can't find a job that will pay for it or if she still strenuously objects, you can drop and concentrate on your friendships in the dorm. But at least you gave it your best shot. Have a little faith that things will work out the way they are supposed to, no matter what happens.

Honestly the best option would be to work. If you have a job this summer save money to pay new member dues. There are also payment plans, so you won't need to pay like 1800 right off the bat. Even dip into the savings account if you must (but replace the money eventually) I feel like going Greek is too great of an opportunity to let money be that big of a factor in your decision.
