What an awful thing to say. This is absolutely the most ignorant statement ever. Oh- but apparently you can read...some aren't so fortunate. You don't even deserve to have the privilege of Greek life.

You are welcome to your opinion, of course, but literacy is something that is dear to my heart since I come from a family of dyslexics. I did, indeed, choose my sorority in part because of its philanthropy.

Aw I'm sorry, honestly was just aiming to have a specific person comment so I could call her out, I didn't even mean it :( I feel bad now :(

Why in the world would someone say insulting things about a philanthropy? This is a new low! None of the houses choose their philanthropies, that comes from national. But we all work hard to make a difference. I think we all should be commended for putting so much time and effort into a good cause. It's one of the best things about Greek life.

I think girls running is much more important than people reading, don't you? And St. Jude's? More than a little overexposed. And no one else is doing anything to fight Alzheimer's so that's a biggie, too. Let's be honest. Most of the philanthropies are just an excuse to mingle and/or party. So let's not make it sound as if anyone in any sorority here is saving the world.

Maybe not saving the world, but making a difference to some in our community. I personally do not like supporting large national charities as the administrative costs can be ridiculous. Just support the girls efforts! And stop being a jerk.

"St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, located in Memphis, Tennessee, is one of the world's premier pediatric cancer research centers. Its mission is to find cures for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases through research and treatment." From there website themselves. I would recommend YOU look up what St. Jude's does.

Leave it to someone on Greek Rank to rewrite the St. Jude mission statement to bolster her own ignorance. To those of you who care, this is the real mission statement, and it does not mention cancer: "The mission of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. Consistent with the vision of our founder Danny Thomas, no child is denied treatment based on race, religion or a family's ability to pay." It's a wonderful hospital and, best of all, it is not based on how much money or insurance coverage a family has. But it is not exclusively a cancer hospital. I know, because my little brother was treated there for a non-malignant brain tumor.

No one said it was exclusively for cancer, you just love arguing with random people online, what a treat.

I copied and pasted the statement from their website. It is under "Facts for Media" if you'd like to go and see that I, in fact, copied and pasted that statement directly from their website. So before you say "Leave it to someone on Greek Rank to rewrite the St. Jude mission statement to bolster her own ignorance" I would make sure you also have all the facts. And I I never said it was a mission statement, you came up on that your own.

And as it was said, no one said it was exclusively cancer, because even in the statement I posted it said " to find cures for children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases".

What about this says St. Jude's in not exclusively a cancer treatment center?
"And please explain to me how TriDelts St. Judes is a little overexposed? Last time I check, fighting for a cause for cancer is one of the best things you can do, and support."

I never once said EXCLUSIVELY in that statement. St. Jude's is known for research on cancer, and treatment for cancer patients. My statement "fighting for a cause for cancer" is exactly what they do so I don't know why you're trying to belittle that? Yes, St. Jude's does more than just that, but I am not going to sit here and say every single thing they do.

girls running? girls on the run is for giving girls confidence because of how hard it is to be a girl when you are young. Especially with how bad bullying is and suicide rates of young girls. It's not for girls who are obese and need to run. Haha.

To the OP. What in the world is wrong with you? Why would you use a public forum to call out a specific person? Why would you denigrate an entire sorority just to seek your petty revenge? Is that your idea of fun?

You could have had the courage to say Pi Phi instead of beating around the bush. Also literacy is very important, more specifically, health literacy. A lot of people in the US, especially from the older generations, didn't graduate from high school, and at best maybe have a 7th or 8th grade reading level. Now when you go to the hospital and your physician hands you paper work and pamphlets, which clearly won't be the simplest read, and you aren't as literate as an adult should be will you properly understand your diagnosis or treatments as best as you could? No. Literacy is also important in terms of signing contracts and agreements with full understanding. This issue may not have a direct effect on the lives of people, but poor literacy makes life increasingly more difficult in today's world and combating it is important too. At the end of the day philanthropy is about taking steps to help fix an issue to better the community, it should matter what the philanthropy is.

At least we now know our favorite GR troll isn't a PiPhi. Actually, I doubt the OP is even a member of a sorority. She might not even go to Mizzou. She might just be a sad lonely girl looking at Greek Life from the outside.
