houses to avoid?

by:

Going through recruitment as a legacy, but keeping an open mind. My sister did tell me to avoid certain houses though, looking for another opinion that's not biased. She told me to avoid sigma because they're having trouble keeping members and to avoid zeta because they don't have good relations with other Greeks and they are known for being mean. Is this true?

Sigma has low numbers but their retention (maintaining members) this year was actually one of the best. Zeta does have that reputation but they have plenty of nice girls too.

Here's my opinion: stop listening to your sister. Make up your own mind.

I would avoid alpha phi, they have huge retention rate problems as well has a horrible gpa.

Joining zeta isnt ideal for most but I would think it's better than not being Greek at all. Zeta is catty and mean. I personally don't want to be stuck feeling like I'm in middle school so zeta wasn't for me. However, even though zeta as a chapter isn't well liked, there are plenty of nice normal girls in zeta too. Those girls typically either drop or just avoid their sisters all together and pretty much just use zeta for social connections to other sororities and fraternities.

^You really need to get out more. It is extremely irresponsible to keep repeating ancient stereotypes. Zeta is a fine house and its retention issues are a thing of the past. So is that mean girl image. You must have been at this school a long time ago if that's all you think about Zeta.

^and you really need to stop lying. Zetas "stereotype" is actually very real and PNMs have the right to know what they are getting themselves into before joining. I met Too many unhappy zeta babies last year crying in frat bathrooms over how mean their "sisters" are. By best friend joined and dropped zeta after she lived in the house for a semester. Trust me, the reputation couldn't be more accurate.
