does kappa recruit off of money?

Does Kappa heavily recruit rich members? Or do any of the sororities seem to do that?

I don't know one house that does this! I am not sure how they would know if you have money or not, because that isn't something you put down when signing up for recruitment!

The only way Kappa (or any other house) would know if someone has money would be because it is mentioned on a rec from an alum. And that's a pretty tacky thing to mention on a rec. I've never thought Kappas had more or less money than any other house.

I might be the reason you got this impression, someone suggested we had old money houses (so far from reality) and I said Kappa was the closest thing - I said that solely because they have a tendency to recruit friends from the same private schools they went to. I'm not a kappa but I never got the impression that they were snobby about needing money to join or anything like that so I apologize if I gave the wrong impression!

Haha I take it the rich person persona isn't a bad thing to you - it wasn't a bad thing to me either. If a lot of girls that you went to high school with are actives then you definitely go to one of those schools! If not, it's not a problem, kappa is very good at finding their type so they will likely spot you :)

Pi Phi is a good house but if you happen to be the same pnm looking for class, they aren't exactly the best for that (not sure if that was you though, of course.) When I went through rush I didn't find it hard to tell which houses I would fit into, wait til you step foot into ChiO their house is to die for! Sororities with the most private schools girls would probably be XO, Theta, Kappa and Tridelt. Every house has plenty of them, but if you're looking for some prestige I would suggest those 4. I know people will criticize me and say I should be telling you to keep an open mind but I know how it is lol.

Only someone who bought their A's at a private school would think that they are a sign of prestige. Anyone in St. Louis can go to a private school. They let just about any in and several are on the verge of closing because they can't fill their ranks. If you want prestige, it's done by zip code, not school. We would take someone from 60045, 60093, 60035, 60010, 30625, 30305, 55391 or 53092 any day.

I understand you may want to surround yourself with similar people, but college is your opportunity to meet a broad range of people and learn more than what you may have experienced in your little high school microcosm. Trust me- wait until riush and see where you fit.
