pref night/bid day sequence

by:

Can someone please explain how it works after pref night and on bid day? Do you find out your sorority after the parties or that morning on bid day? Then after you go take pictures and all that, what do you do (well I'm pretty sure it varies by sorority) but can I please have details? Thanks

For starters we do a pref day, and then you find out the next morning at bid day. After you take pictures you'll probably eat lunch then do some kind of activity (varies), then they have to let you off to go to tiger walk

What's tiger walk?

It is where all the freshman (or transfer students) will walk through the columns! It is a mizzou tradition! You'll get ice cream once you walk through! And then when you graduate (or a day or so before) you'll walk back through and get a beer instead of ice cream!

Will the sisters be drinking a bit? My friends and I plan to, just a bit, whether you advise us to or not lol so I don't need to be told, just wondering if actives do as well.

REALLY?! You want to risk getting kicked out of your sorority (IF you are chosen) before you even get started?!

Sheer stupidity - you don't deserve to be in a sorority!

Lol freshmen, you'll have plenty of time to drink; don't do it on bid day and risk getting your house in trouble or kicked of

I know how to handle my drinking, from what I hear most schools do drink on bid day. To say I don't deserve to be a sorority is laughable - no one answered my question, will actives be drinking? I heard one house got in trouble for it last year

Maybe some but it's really not allowed and not worth the risk.
There's a time and place for everything, learn to take rules seriously when they come from PHA or else you're gonna be a future liability.

Lol bid day takes so long anyway you would probably be sober by the time you get to your new house

You may be right but I plan to go with the flow and have some fun. Guess no one wants to answer my question but I'm sureeee that certain sororities have some drinks. Hopefully my future house is one of them :)

@incoming

If drinking on bid day is the only thing you can think of you need to really start asking yourself why you want to be part of a sorority. If it is just to party and get drunk then you are rushing for all the wrong reasons. The people on this thread are not being overdramatic. We are protecting our sorority from PNM like you, and the damage you could do to the house. It does not matter if you can handle your alcohol, what matters is that if you get caught, you're entire chapter is at risk of losing something. It is not just about what you want, and I guess you're going to have a hard time figuring that out in a sorority, IF you even get a bid. I am sure you can wait one night (and if you can't you should profanely go see someone about it) without alcohol in your system. Bid day is on a Sunday. Syllabus week is literally right around the corner. Also remember that on bid day you will be wearing your letters (once again that is if you get a bid), and it is a giant NO to drinking while wearing your letters.

EXACTLY what TBH said, when you get a bid and decide to break the rules it isn't just putting yourself at risk it's putting the entire chapter at risk. Thats a good point too, we take the whole no drinking in your letters thing seriously here.

since we are actually in sororities and we've been through bid day maybe you shouldn't completely discredit what we say.

I'm not discounting what you're saying but you're absolutely stereotyping me, saying I only want to join a sorority to drink and have no idea what it's about. I will not be getting any house in trouble, so you can quit worrying about that lol. My entire teasing for stating "whether you recommend it or not" was to avoid the lecturing (that worked really well,) I have good enough judgement to make the decision as to whether it's appropriate or not on my own. That wasn't my question but y'all loveeeee to lecture so carry on.

With that shotty kind of disrespectful attitude, you definitely don't deserve to be in a sorority.

That privilege goes to girls who understand and respect what sorority life stands for.

Saying that I'm going to have a couple drinks doesn't mean I don't respect or understand sorority life, that's my own decision, as long as I represent my future letters well (ie am well behaved) then there shouldn't be a problem. Yall on Greek rank are just overrrrdramatic on another level.

I think this entire post is a joke. It is either a troll looking for attention, or it's a pnm who has a drinking problem. Trying to insist she's going to drink on bid day, when she knows nothing of what to expect, doesn't realize the adrenaline takes over, etc-but yet she's still insisting she'll have a few drinks and can handle her drinking-BS. Someone's playing around here, this is not a sincere post. Maybe the initial question was-but I'd be shocked if a pnm was going to debate with people why she feels its ok to drink-when she doesn't even go here yet.. Lol, I'd say everyone stop replying to this, it's been stated it's not allowed, don't debate with the girl anymore.

We can't answer your question because if people are drinking it is not well known or else they would be in trouble for it. My house doesn't drink for bid day and that's all I can tell you.
Make your own decision but don't get mad when it gets you kicked out of recruitment.
