Every brand is accepted don't think you have to get j crew or lily to be a sorority girl haha, a good tip would be to wear shorts that aren't super short.

We sort of laugh at the Lily girls. They try too hard. Just be yourself, wear what looks best on you and rock it with confidence no matter what.

Depends on the house, we like Lilly in mine but some of the prints since she passed away are horrendous so keep that in mind too

I would say, for my house, wear anything BUT Lilly Pulitzer. Can you say "cliche"?

It's cliche for a reason, some of us were raised wearing those brands instead of forever21 lol

There are certain girls who can pull off Lilly and there are certain girls who can pull of Old Navy. It depends on what you feel comfortable in. Although not a fan of certain brands, etc if a girl looks put together and comes across comfortable, that makes an impression when you talk to her. And to the person that said people in big cities don't wear Lilly, you're wrong. I guess it depends on what you consider a big city. And if a girl in a city that isn't big on Lilly chooses to wear Lilly-more power to her because she is being herself and not being influenced by what others consider the latest style. Wear what ever you feel comfortable in!

St. Louis is not a big city, even though you can see Lilly clothing at every strip mall in West County. Chicago is a big city. So are Atlanta, LA and New York. We have fashion forward girls from all four of those cities in my house and they wouldn't be caught dead in Lilly Pulitzer clothing.

That's due to the fact that your sisters from big cities are a bunch of Yankees with different style. When you're talking Houston, Charlotte, Jackson etc, more southern or New England states, they're still wearing Lilly and wouldn't be caught dead in tacky brandy Melville jean shorts. Trendy is the last stage before tacky, just saying.
To answer the question, my house would much prefer seeing nice pastel shorts over frayed anything... Brand doesn't matter so much, as long as they're flattering.

Side note, we aren't situated in a big city so the whole comment about not wearing Lilly in big cities is completely irrelevant. Who aims to look like a dirty city girl anyway... ? Go to NYU

Atlanta? A Yankee city? Girl, you need a map! I'm from Buckhead in Atlanta and you can't get any more old money and southern than that. I bleed sweet tea and I Margaret Mitchell is a distant cousin. I also wouldn't be caught dead in Lilly. Brands like that are for people who have no style of their own. They think they can buy it. They're wrong.

Following tacky trends is for people with no style, Lilly is classic. Atlanta is the tackiest city in the south, excuse my racism but we all know what Atlanta is about.

How do you know I'm not in your house? And I knew you weren't white from the way you type that's hilarious. That would also explain the difference in style preference, just sayin.

Nice try. But when you wrote "Atlanta is the tackiest city in the south, excuse my racism but we all know what Atlanta is about," you weren't talking about style. You were insulting minorities and that offends me -- even though I'm white.

Lmao shhhh it's ok. I was saying their style in ATL is tacky because it's centered around filthy rich African Americans, yes. I am not trying to rid the country of you, everything is A-OK. 👌🏽

Texan here and I just don't find most Lily stuff cute, the solid color stuff is okay but the patterns are a bit much for me... honestly a lot of it looks like mom clothes

If you look like a mom in it you're not wearing it right. Although since Lilly passed they are definitely going downhill, some damn weird prints have come out.

I can NOT say this enough when I hear girls talking about recruitment- there are some shallow girls in a sorority who will look at your clothes and pass judgment, but most girls will be a lot more interested in talking to you. Be polished, shower, wear some makeup, but do not obsess over if your shorts are J.Crew or Mossimo or Old Navy. I will not notice or care, as long as your cheeks aren't out and you're a nice person. I will say that with a t-shirt, I always think that khaki or colored shorts look nicer than denim.
