what to believe
by: Just wonderingAfter reading these boards I know going in with an open mind and forming your own opinions are the most important things.But there always seems to be some truth buried so I'm curious about a few things. Certain houses get a lot of hate and it seems to be some houses are a last choice for people. I am most curious about Alpha Phi,Adpi and Zeta.By outward appearances all seem to be great houses. Certain comments appear over and over though. My question is, how does a house that appears desirable and likable draw such dislike. These houses look like they are beautiful girls that have the whole package. But a common theme keeps coming up, that they are mean and back stabbing. Not knowing that much about COB, it looks like all of these houses are always doing it which makes one wonder why. Being from out of state and only knowing a few girls at Mizzou who have gone greek, and knowing the type of girls they were in hs-and the houses they joined and the 'rep' makes me hesitant about a lot of things(focused, driven girls going to 'party' houses and some pretty wild ones going to the 'brightest' houses, so I know to be careful of what to believe). But those 3 houses just seem so confusing, what's up with them?

Some of the houses get crap for being party houses- but just because they are sociable, doesn't preclude them from being ambitious academically. I know very serious and bright girls in party houses. Their sisters support their need to study, but are there when they want to cut loose after an exam.

Last year before I rushed the house everyone was hating on here was gphi and now no one is. There is just some girl who has something against adpi and always brings them up and the some girl doing that for aphi, and so on. They are all great houses and you'll find the place you fit in August.

truthful unbiased stereotypes:
ADPi: they are AMBITIOUS, and i think sometimes people mistake that for high strung or too intense. honestly, this house is a strong mid tier house that is fairly well rounded. they are competitive, smart, beautiful, and fun! a very respectable house.
APhi: beautiful girls who love to have fun and enjoy being social. they're house is divided though! some girls want to be involved and focused, others only want to party. This is a problem for overall sisterhood and leadership. also, they do not have mandatory events, which doesn't help the involvement/sisterhood issue.
Zeta: Now I know there are some very sweet likable girls in this house. there's 300 girls in each house, so there has to be some great girls here. truthfully, I have a hard time finding positive about this house because of the actions I have seen with the way they treat each other and talk poorly about each other. they get a real bad rep from how they treat each other as well as other sorority women, which is why so many of the great pnm's they get drop. could they be a great house? absolutely! but not until they clean house with their leadership and certain members that keep this reputation going. Overall, they struggle with retention, respect, sisterhood, and overall popularity on campus. I think their attitudes towards other greeks is the big reason they are still bottom tier. Just not very nice girls looking at the house as a whole. :/

I almost agree entirely with you, except.
Alpha phi has 'some' party girls. Many of their girls are quite socially awkward, which explains why they are an absolute last choice house for so many. Pretty girls who have other issues. Great sisterhood? Definitely not. If you are in the 'in' group, yes. But too many girls(thus this last choice option) drop because some of these girls are brutal. And as far as other houses go-these are definitely not the girls that have friends in other houses-party with an alpha phi and be ready for her to throw you under the bus-they are not at all about sisterhood-whether it is within their house or regarding other houses. THAT is why other houses don't like them-they are the girls gathering dirt on other sororities, all in hopes of climbing the social ladder. Will honestly say the majority of houses here all support each, not these girls, they do their own thing. THAT'S why they are bottom tier trying to be like all other mid and top tier houses. Mean, just plain and simple-mean girls

I'm tired of seeing this whole "social houses vs. geeks that don't go out" thing. Every single house has a lot of girls that go out and girls that don't. We are all in sororities which by definition are SOCIAL organizations... the non social people aren't Greek.

Ok this might not be the most flattering confession but girls drop APhi mainly because their grades slip and they end up on probation or they just plain end up leaving to go back home. That's the risk in taking girls with lower GPAs... APhi is known to have one of the strongest sisterhoods, those girls are complete sweethearts, these rumours of them being mean is complete BS and anyone who's close with them would know that

you totally contradicted yourself not to mention that they have a great sisterhood?! Are you kidding? Of course when a tragedy strikes, as with any house with a human beating heart, they are going to pull together for their sister. But really, within that house a sisterhood? Wow, yes, if you call talking to someone who one of your sisters dated a few years ago in highschool and then being ridiculed by the entire house a sisterhood, ok. If you call (and this is the most laughable of all) wearing a sisters previous nights outfit and pulling it off better than her and then no one talking to you, total sisterhood, for one girl at least. And if you call the rest of the bs they put their sisters through, especially the new members, sisterhood-then so be it. There is without a doubt why this house can cob when not another house can. Beware ladies, that's all...just be aware.

1) sounds like that girl (ie probably you) wasnt being a good sister and the rest of them united in standing up for another sister, which actually shows great sisterhood just not towards you because you lost that privilege 2) where is the contradiction ??

I'll be honest, I would have included gphi in this list except I know of a girl from our hometown(didn't go to hs with her) that chose gphi and knowing the type of girl she was/is-focused, studious, shy-but was always with a fun crowd, I left them off the list. It was recently said they were changing their image and if it's true that tri delt also was changing their image it makes sense if gphi picked up a lot of those girls(smarter more serious).
The other 3 houses make me wonder because from our area the girls they drew were just lol, for lack of a better word, baffling. Sometimes a lot of drama, not necessarily the most social girls and actually I will leave adpi out of that because I don't know anyone that went adpi. Interesting to get peoples opinions!

ADPi is a fine house. One of the most selective, in fact, with outstanding return rates. Alpha Phi is an extremely popular house among pretty girls who can't get into some other houses. And Zeta has a rich history on this campus. It has been here for 50 years or so and, like all houses, its popularity has ebbed and flowed. You can do better than Zeta and Alpha Phi, but you also can do a lot worse. How about going through and making up your own mind????????????

And yet another ADPi hating on APhi and Zeta, I stand by my first comment. ADPi is known to be the meanest craziest least friendly girls on campus and the responses on this thread are a great example. They hate on APhi Zeta and GPhi because they excel in ADPi's greatest weakness - fun and attractive. ADPi is equally as selective as APhi, ADPi has high standards when it comes to grades and APhi has high standards when it comes to looks.

ZETA GET OFF THIS THREAD! your house sucks for all the of reasons listed above by previous posters! Stop trying to cover your issues up! YOU ALL ARE LIARS TO PNMS AND GREAT GIRLS THAT JOIN YOUR HOUSE QUIT WITHIN THE FIRST SEMESTER BECAUSE THEY LISTENED TO YOUR LIES!

Thanks for a solid example of an ADPi that hates on social houses. How most people see it:
ADPi: intelligent, but not the #1 academic house. Have some outgoing, very involved girls but their typical girl is a little socially awkward. Rarely see them out and when I do they don't talk to any other sororities and are way too hammered. Very insecure girls.
APhi: social, but not the #1 most social. Very pretty, outgoing, fun girls. Some very academic focused girls but most are more focused on partying. Definitely a party sorority, you see these girls out everywhere. Very friendly and nice to other sororities and are known to have an awesome sisterhood.
Zeta: Pretty girls but they can get a little out of control. Big partiers, some great leaders but few and far between. Love to party and friends with a lot of fraternity boys. Very sweet to other sororities and have lots of friends.
