studying abroad vs rushing

by: q

For as long as I can remember, I've always wanted to take a year or semester and study abroad in college. I've also been considering rushing a lot more lately after hearing so many good things about the experience. I'm just not sure if it is worth the money if I know I am definitely not going to be there for a year while I am studying abroad.. does anyone have any advice for me?

If you study abroad, most houses will not make you pay during that semester. If they do I'm assuming its reduced by a lot, but for most houses you don't pay anything. So you'd only be paying for the sorority for the semesters you were at Mizzou. I'd recommend doing it, greek life is a ton of fun and there are 15 awesome houses you could join!

You only pay dues when you are on campus. Most people study abroad their junior year, and you wouldn't be living in the house then anyway. I'd say go for it. But if you do more than a semester abroad, don't count on graduating on time. Plus you wouldn't want all those pass/fail non-major courses on your transcript.
