PNMs,

Recruitment is a terrifying process where you're going to have to decide where you want to belong not only for the next four years, but for life. During this process you're going to be told repeatedly to "keep an open mind" and "trust the system" and as hard as it is, doing so can help you find your home where you truly belong. This website is full of catty girls trying to undervalue other houses in order to make their own seem better in some way. But the reality is that every house offers something different and is amazing and special in its own way. That's not to say there aren't stigmas; of course there are.

There are the "smart" houses...Kappa Alpha Theta, Chi Omega, Alpha Delta Pi, Kappa Kappa Gamma

The "hot" houses...Tri Delta, Gamma Phi Beta, Alpha Phi, Pi Beta Phi, Delta Gamma

The "bad" or "bottom-tier" houses...Zeta Tau Alpha, Tri Sigma, Phi Mu, Kappa Delta

And the houses that don't really fit into these categories...Alpha Chi Omega, Sigma Kappa

But the reality is that these labels don't mean anything!! Each house has girls interested in such a wide variety of things that there is someone for everyone in EVERY house. When I went through Formal Recruitment the house that I ended up in was last on my list. However now I would not change it for the world, I have never been happier or more comfortable in my life. I know that it's hard, but I urge you to listen to your Pi Chis and keep an open mind while going through recruitment this fall.

Sincerely,
PHALUV

Why on earth would you list all the stereotypes and then proceed to say not to listen to the stereotypes... Counter productive? Anyways SK is bottom tier

There really is no "bottom tier", every house is different for different reasons. People feel the need to get on this site and validate themselves by putting others down.

Girls (not women) who are insecure with their own situations like to come to this website and bash other houses they feel threatened by.

PMNs listen up - don't believe a single word you read on this website.

If you truely want a memorable Greek experience that will last a lifetime - chose your OWN destiny!

Going with a certain "tier" or a sorority house because of what you read on this website says a lot about your intelligence and confidence level.

First of all, there is nothing terrifying about recruitment. It is a process where you get to meet a boatload of interesting women and get to see where you fit in. Lots of opportunity, little terror. Second, it has an impact on the first couple of years of your life only because you do many things with your pledge class as a freshman and then get to live with the friends you'be made as a sophomore. But, guess what, if you feel you made a mistake or find you don't fit in well with the others who were recruited with you, you can quit. It's a great way to make lifelong friends and most people do, but it's hardly the only way. Third, after you move out of the house you can be involved as much or as little as you want, so it's up to you whether there are lifelong implication. And, finally, while certain houses have certain stereotypes, once you get to know the people in your sorority, there is no such thing as a stereotype, only individuals. So have fun with rush, or don't. So pay attention to stereotypes, or don't. so make a lifelong commitment, or don't. And most of all, don't pay attention to people who think they know everything and who tell you what to do. You're in college; start thinking and trusting yourself. That's what college is for.

So true. Recruitment is supposed to be fun, and it is. Why in the world would someone call it terrifying?
